So, I decided to create the SHE App, a women’s safety app that’s supposed to protect women in potentially dangerous situations. It’s a simple app, really, built with the idea of saving lives, and it does what it says on the tin—mostly. I’ve used it for a while now and thought, “Why not share it with everyone?” Here’s my take on it. Spoiler: It’s not perfect, but hey, it’s a start. 😅
During one late-night coding binge (because when else would I work?), I realized that the world needs an app like this. I was tired of hearing about news where women were put in harm’s way and had no immediate way to reach help. That’s where SHE App comes in.
Features (The Cool Stuff)
- Emergency Alerts 🚨 – One tap sends a distress signal to your emergency contacts. Doesn’t get easier than that, right?
- GPS Location Sharing 📍 – Share your location with trusted people instantly. No more waiting around wondering if you’re going in the right direction.
- Real-Time Tracking 🕒 – Know when you’re being tracked, and don’t worry, you’ll know exactly when the person you’ve shared your location with gets the update.
- Voice Activation 🎤 – Because sometimes your hands just aren’t free. Simply say, “Help,” and the app will do its magic.
- SOS Button 🆘 – Hidden in plain sight, so no one will know you’ve activated it. Stealth mode on.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
The Good (I promise there’s good)
- User-friendly Interface – I didn’t want to make another app that requires a degree in rocket science to use. It’s simple. Even your grandma could figure it out, as long as she’s not on Facebook all day.
- Emergency Response Feature – This is the real hero of the app. One tap, and you’re sending an alert to your emergency contacts. It’s like calling 911, but you’re still able to breathe.
- Instant Location Sharing – Need help? Share your location right now. It’s like sending a “come save me” text, but better.
- Stealth Mode – Sometimes you need to act like you’re not in danger when, in fact, you are. We’ve got that covered.
The Bad (It’s not perfect)
- Battery Drain 🔋 – Yeah, the app can be a bit of a battery hog if you keep it running in the background. But hey, if you’re about to be in a dangerous situation, I think the battery drain is the least of your worries. 😜
- GPS Accuracy – It’s not always 100% accurate, which could make all the difference when you need it most. Sometimes it’s off by a few meters, which isn’t great when you’re running for your life.
- Emergency Contacts Feature – It works, but it’s one of those things that you hope you never need. If you do need it, make sure your contacts actually know how to use the app. Trust me, you don’t want your “emergency contact” to be like, “Wait, what does this button do?”

Roadmap (WIP, Because Who Doesn’t Love a Good Roadmap?)
- Better Accuracy – I’ll get the GPS part fixed, don’t worry. It’s in progress.
- Battery Optimization – I know, I know. If I could, I’d make it as battery-friendly as your phone’s “Low Power Mode,” but it’s still a work in progress.
- Voice Activation Improvements – Because right now, sometimes it listens when you’re just yelling at your phone for no reason.
- Self-Defense Tutorials – Teaching women self-defense moves, so next time you need to break free, you’re ready. 💪
- More Languages – Because safety knows no boundaries. 🌍
